ISIL Shows Capabilities of Modern Military Planning

ISIL has started their assault on Saudi Arabia by targeting their intelligence officers, this shows sophistication that we have not seen out of an Islamofascist organization before. This also indicates that they have well trained military officers in their upper ranks that know how to clear and prepare the battle space before launching any attacks:

The ultra-violent al Qaeda offshoot group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS) has targeted Saudi Arabian intelligence officers for a campaign of assassination as part of plans by the group to expand activities inside the oil-rich kingdom.

A Twitter campaign by ISIL terrorists was launched Friday that sought information on Saudi intelligence officers. It followed a fatal knife attack against a Saudi police officer last week.

U.S. intelligence agencies monitoring ISIL’s social media communications identified the campaign as a crowd-sourced effort to gather names and other personal information about Saudi intelligence officials for the assassination campaign.

The campaign, according to U.S. officials, appears aimed at destabilizing Saudi Arabia, the location of two of Islam’s holiest cities.

They have called for the destruction of the Saudi Kingdom and we reported on this in our ISIS Set Eyes On Mecca & Medina, Just as Mohamed article:

In our Trawl IV article we discussed that Saudi Arabia had deployed 30,000 troops to the border with Iraq, here is the reason for this deployment as they believe ISIS will march on Median and Mecca just as Mohamed:

Sources say the Islamic State, former the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (or Greater Syria), is a rival to Saudi Arabia, even though both are Sunni. However, like the Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamic State abhors monarchies. The Islamic State is hoping that the Saudi army will revolt against the King and join its caliphate.

The area between Iraq and Jordan, into Saudi Arabia, is mostly desert, allowing the Islamic State to make major inroads into the kingdom before meeting resistance.

Saudi Arabia is aware that it could be the target of the Islamic State and its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the recently announced caliph or leader with the title of Khalifah Ibrahim. Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz recently met with newly elected Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to obtain counter-terrorism assistance if there is an attack on the kingdom.

We are starting to rethink our previous analysis on ISIL as it now looks as if it is being led by some very sophisticated officers that are making tactical and strategic decision on the order of battle. One objective appears to be consolidating all the oil reserves in the Mideast under this Caliphate, the other is the destruction of any Sunni and Shia opposition to this goal. From the geopolitical perspective Iran may be behind this effort, staying in the shadows to destroy and/or gather all opposition to them.

We also have the curious withdrawal of the Obama regime from this region and abandoning all the spent blood and treasure in the region going so far as to ask Congress to repeal the war authorization for Iraq.

Given the facts as we now know them, it looks as if this move by ISIL is very forward looking and indicates that they are actually being led by others that have formal training in military planning and are being used by a foreign power that will consolidate all the oil reserves under one banner.

Russia and Iran come to mind, though we will have to see how this shapes up. From Free Beacon.
